About

Bienvenidos! This blog will serve as a entertaining, educating, and (hopefully) inspiring guide into diverse cultures, ecological scenery, and sustainability practice. This social exploration will encapsulate most of the South American continent. Currently, Michael is wrapping up his volunteership with Planet Drum in Bahía de Caraquez, Ecuador as you can see from his recent posts. Jesse’s trip will begin on March 7th and make its way through Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, and finally Ecuador including a similar 4 week stint volunteering with Planet Drum in Bahía.

The education, lessons, and experience gained from this venture will help mold us for our personal, professional, and potential graduate studies in the months and years ahead. As we progress as individuals in this complicated and shadowed world, the hope is that we can become more tolerant, creative, forward thinking, and courageous to adapt to the challenges this world is beginning to realize it faces – from food to climate to quality of life.

I ask you to provide any encouragement, questions, suggestions, and knowledge you have in the comment boxes that follow. My hope is that this can be a starting point for a network of ideas and opportunities. Everything begins with the first step; from there, anything is possible.

“Long-term travel isn’t an act of rebellion against society; it’s an act of common sense within society. Long-term travel doesn’t require a bundle of cash; it requires only that we walk through the world in a more deliberate way.” – Rolf Potts
